Over 20,000 Bootie Bags Sold to Date Goal is Million
MARIETTA, GA - May 1, 2006 — They're fun, hip and no two are
alike. Bootie Bags(TM), an expressive new line of denim handbags
fashioned from the seat pants of gently worn recycled jeans, are
lifting off store shelves while helping to benefit an important
cause - finding a cure for Juvenile Diabetes.
Chris Graham, mother of four, founded the company shortly after
she and her husband learned that their youngest son, Jackson
Riley, age three at the time, was diagnosed with Juvenile
Diabetes.
"Bootie Bags are an instant conversation starter," says Bootie
Bags(TM) Inc. founder Chris Graham. "Everywhere our customers
go, people stop them because they just have to know where they
got their bag from."
Handmade in Marietta, Georgia, these expressive handbags feature
hand beaded crystal handles and are decorated with colorful
trims, ribbons and accents such as Swarovski crystal studded
leather belts. Each Bootie Bag(TM) is lined with a different
patterned fabric and carries a booty shaped stainless steel
serial tag to ensure its authenticity.
"Jean bags have been around forever, but Bootie Bags(TM) are one-
of- a-kind embellished denim handbags that are modern, wearable
art," says Chris Graham.
Graham designed the first Bootie Bag prototype on a whim for a
friend. When friends and colleagues began requesting bags of
their own, she decided to forgo her career as a court reporter to
pursue the business as a serious venture to help fundraise for
children like Jackson, affected with Juvenile Diabetes.
When son Jackson was first diagnosed, Graham explains that the
news was devastating. "How can you tell a child that there just
isn't any cure to how bad he was feeling? When it really hit us
that this was a finite illness, I needed to do something to
help."
To date, over 20,000 Bootie Bags(TM) have been sold, helping to
raise over ,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Graham's goal is to continue to make strides in finding a cure
and to raise million for JDRF.
Graham wants parents to know that Juvenile Diabetes is not the
end of the world. "I've learned that you need to take the bull by
the horns and control it instead of letting it control you. I
hate to see people controlled by accident or illness," says
Graham. "Hopefully, they will see Bootie Bags(TM) as an
inspiration to make a difference."
Bootie Bags(TM) are currently offered in several sizes called
Baby Booties, Big Booties, Specialty Booties and new Squattie
Booties, Closed Booties and Bittie Booties. The bags are
available at over 1,000 retailers nationwide and range from -
